On Friday 9th October 2020 a number of Mountjoy staff members joined forces to undertake decorating works at The Gouldings care home in Freshwater, Isle of Wight. The idea for the project originated when our two Isle of Wight building maintenance contract Supervisors, Adrian Blake and Shane Gulliver, attended a repair at the home and during the course of the repair, staff mentioned that they hadn't been able to redecorate the dining room as they would have liked and unfortunately it was not part of their planned upgrade programme. In response, Mountjoy pulled together a team to voluntarily carry out the labour and help improve the surroundings for residents and staff at The Gouldings.
The team comprised both Adrian and Shane along with our Managing Director, Simon Ingram and Head of Maintenance Operations, Chris Attwell. Over the course of the day they transformed the dining room into a modern, bright room by recoating the ceiling with white paint and covering the walls in a two-tone grey emulsion.
The project was able to go ahead thanks to the generosity of The Dulux Centre in Newport, who agreed to supply the paint free of charge. The team were also assisted by a Mountjoy subcontractor, Peter Hazel, who volunteered to help speed the works along.
Following completion of the project, both residents and staff at The Gouldings were delighted with the result.
