Today International Women’s Day is marked around the world in a collective celebration of equality and inclusion.
This year, Mountjoy are proud to be celebrating the women across the business who make a positive impact on our services and company culture every day through their hard work and dedication.
To mark this occasion, we are recognising the achievements of five members of staff across the business who represent our company ethos of Integrity, Built In, and who play a vital role in the success of our company.
Read below to find out more about our fantastic staff!
Tanya Roxborough – Maintenance Director
Tanya joined Mountjoy in 2015 bringing a wealth of experience in facilities management contracts and operational leadership. Within her role she oversees the delivery of our term maintenance contracts, leading our contract teams in the effective and high-quality delivery of services for a range of clients, including local authorities, housing associations, and charities.
Tanya has created considerable success for Mountjoy through numerous achievements, including the improvement of customer satisfaction across our contracts, and supporting our business development through the creation of a standardised approach to new contract mobilisations. Her business acumen and knowledge of the industry has played an integral role in the retention of our existing contracts and procurement of new contracts, supporting the integrity of the business.
Leanne Furneaux – Carpenter
Leanne joined Mountjoy as an Apprentice Carpenter on our Housing Maintenance Contract with Portsmouth City Council, undertaking an NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery at a local college– which she successfully completed in 2023!
Leanne has been a consistent asset to the team, supporting numerous social value events around Portsmouth, including the creation of two wooden structures to be used at Portsmouth City Council’s Family Hubs Family Fun Day Afternoon, and her involvement as an apprentice on Shaping Portsmouth’s Apprenticeship Bus Roadshow 2023.
Her dedication to her craft saw her nominated for two awards, including the News and Observer’s Apprenticeship of the Year Award 2023, and the Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Award for the News Business Excellence Awards 2024.
Sammy Dawes – IOW Contracts Manager
Sammy originally joined Mountjoy in 2005 as a Call Centre Administrator, looking after customers from 2 housing associations. Her dedication to her role saw her progression through the team, eventually becoming a Resource Controller for the company’s largest Maintenance contract with Portsmouth City Council.
Following this, in 2012 Sammy became a Service Manager for our maintenance contracts on the Isle of Wight, covering housing maintenance for the Isle of Wight Council and the Southern Housing Group housing association. In 2016 Sammy left the business as part of a TUPE Transfer with the Southern Housing Group contract.
In 2023 Sammy re-joined Mountjoy as our Isle of Wight Contract Manager where she manages our contracts on the island, including key contracts with the IoW Council, Vectis Housing Association, RNLI, Weatherspoons, and numerous other clients. Sammy successfully leads the division that turns over £2m a year, leading and motivating a team of 16 trade staff, 2 supervisors, 1 Coster and 2 Administrators.
Carly Golden – Service Manager
Carly commenced her journey with Mountjoy as a call handler over 15 years ago, assigned to our Housing Maintenance Contract with Portsmouth City Council. Her strong work ethic and drive led to her being invited by the council to be part of their improvement team, focusing on changing traditional models of service delivery in favour of adopting a systems thinking customer-focused approach.
This experience provided Carly with invaluable knowledge, and she quickly progressed to her current role as a Service Manager within our Operations Centre. Carly has consistently proven to be an important and trusted member of the team at Mountjoy, and her contributions are always valued amongst her colleagues.
Emily Wright – Painter and Decorator
Emily joined Mountjoy in 2024 as a painter and decorator on our housing maintenance contract with Portsmouth City Council, having previously been self-employed.
Since joining Mountjoy, Emily has proved to be an invaluable asset to the company, integrating well into the team. Her dedication and passion to her craft are commendable, and have received positive feedback from clients and stakeholders.
We look forward to seeing Emily’s continued progression and contribution at Mountjoy!
