Mountjoy is a proud supporter of Portsmouth’s children’s adventure playgrounds around the city. Our latest project was in Buckland where the kitchen was in need of enlarging and replacement of the units. The design and installation were carried out by a team led by Foreman, David Langdon, including Richard Buckland, Keith Smith, Paul Othen, Mike Morgan and Chris Tucker. Builder's merchant, Buildbase, kindly donated materials for the works.
Local children who drop into the adventure playground after school and during the holidays can request activities they would like to do, including cooking. At the family open day they were making cheese scones as part of the Smart Recipes initiative.
Mountjoy’s Directors previously helped to develop a horticultural area at this adventure playground where local school children and adult volunteers grow fruit, vegetables and flowers. This is now thriving and they regularly sell their plants and turn their fruit into jam to raise funds for the centre.
