Mountjoy Ltd, has been awarded a contract worth £820,000 to alter and refurbish West Hill School in Leatherhead.
The works for Surrey County Council are to enable the change from a secondary SEN to a primary SEN which includes refurbishment of the existing classrooms and communal spaces as well as carrying out some external works.
Through the installation of a single storey modular classroom unit and internal alterations the school will be able to increase the current classroom numbers. The long-term project has been carried out in three phases with this third phase starting today and completing in spring 2018.
West Hill will take pupils with more complex learning difficulties, including speech and language difficulties, autism and/or medical needs. The school started taking primary school children in September 2016; it ceased taking new secondary pupils in September 2016 and will continue to provide for remaining secondary aged pupils until 2020.
Mountjoy has worked with Surrey County Council since 2012 when appointed to carry out SEN school alterations.
