Mountjoy have won a £2.7million contract with Solent University for the refurbishment of the second and third floors of the Michael Andrews Building, located on the University’s East Park Terrace campus in Southampton.
The works will involve the stripping out of existing and installation of new flooring, ceilings, partitions and decorations to the buildings’ second and third floor to create new classrooms, labs, and workshops. There is also a very significant package of mechanical and electrical works to deliver including a major upgrade to the electrical distribution in the building and installation of new air handling and air conditioning systems.
The newly refurbished space will enable the relocation of several University courses which are currently based in their Bar End campus, including:
- Print Workshop
- Fine Art
- Graphic Design
- Architectural Design & Technology
- Interior Design & Decoration
- Hair & Make-up / Body Lab / Prosthetics
The works are due to start on the 5th September and will be completed by late December. The size and complexity of this project in such a short space of time means our team and subcontractors will be working double shifts to ensure we can finish on time.
