Mountjoy is pleased to welcome Jamie Coles to our team!
Jamie’s role within Mountjoy has been secured in partnership with Shaping Portsmouth’s Care Leavers Programme, which aims to help young people who have recently left care to build ongoing relationships with the business community. The programme provides opportunities for care leavers to train and upskill, so that they can work towards all types of employment options across multiple industries.
Jamie is working with one of our experienced general builders predominately undertaking roofing, brickwork, and other external and internal building repairs.
If all goes well and he is settled, he will then be considered for a potential apprenticeship in Property Maintenance for September 2024.
Our Senior Contract’s Manager, Paul Deluchi, who manages our contract with Portsmouth City Council stated, ‘It is so encouraging to give this opportunity to a young person in the community who needed that initial link up with a local Business. Shaping Portsmouth have been the catalyst to facilitating this, and I am confident that both Mountjoy Ltd and Jamie will work well together, and hopefully, Jamie considers the next steps to becoming an apprentice and then a tradesman. Hopefully, with the support of Mountjoy Ltd, he will see his aspirations unfold and have a bright future ahead of him’
Sam McGrath, Director of Operations & Marketing at Shaping Portsmouth, said ‘Mountjoy have been a huge supporter of our Care Leavers & Choose Employability Programme since the day we met them. Paul Deluchi, Senior Contracts Manager had no reservation when we approached him and Managing Director, Simon Ingram. They opened their doors to a first interview which quickly moved into a long-term employment opportunity for Jamie, one of our cities Care Leavers’.
