Mountjoy are proud to have supported this year’s Apprenticeship Bus Roadshow, run by local non-profit Shaping Portsmouth.
Beginning in 2018, this annual event sees apprentices from local Portsmouth-based businesses visit a number of schools across the city, granting students a fantastic opportunity to engage with apprentices in-person, providing a first-hand insight into the world of apprenticeships and inspiring them to consider an apprenticeship as a future career option.
In support of the programme Gemma Dickson, our apprentice HR Administrator, and Josh Williams, an Electrical Apprentice on our housing maintenance contract with Portsmouth City Council, were amongst the apprentices taking part.
Following our support of last year’s initiative, this year the programme was led by Simon Ingram, Managing Director of Mountjoy, who was supported by our Business Development and Marketing Manager, Becki LeMasonry. As programme lead Simon chaired monthly meetings to assist with the organisation of the roadshow, ensuring that all actions were completed and deadlines were met, helping to replicate the success of previous years.
The programme ran from 6th to 8th of February, during the National Apprenticeship week, a week which celebrates the positive impacts that apprenticeships have both for individuals and businesses across the nation.
To promote this fantastic initiative, Shaping Portsmouth collaborated with Mediafleet and Stagecoach to completely transform the Apprenticeship Bus, ensuring that it caught people’s eye as it drove around the city.
