Mountjoy has recently completed the internal refurbishment of St Michael and All Angel’s Church in Paulsgrove, creating a more appealing and flexible space for its local community.
Over the past few months, works undertaken have involved refreshing tired internal spaces, replacing fixtures and fittings and improving the environmental performance of the 1950s building.
The new flexible, attractive space will allow the Paulsgrove community to hold events, playgroups and workshops run by the church co-operative. Additionally, a new kitchen and servery has been installed, enabling groups to cater for events. New toilet facilities are also available on site.
The team had to work in close collaboration with the Church to get the project finished on time, especially considering the fact that a wedding had been pre-booked a week after the original completion. Through careful planning, Mountjoy was able to complete a week earlier, leaving plenty of time for the Church to get ready for the wedding on the 24th August.
Gambol Parker, Assistant Director for Engagement and Social Enterprise at the Diocese of Portsmouth’s CSR branch, said of the project; “Our contractors, Mountjoy, have not only been terrific, respectful and conscientious but have completed a week early. We are really, really happy.”
