Mountjoy is currently working in partnership with Portsmouth City Council to deliver two vitally important refurbishment projects in separate locations across the City.
The first project comprises the internal refurbishment and replacement of external curtain walling components at Kingsway House, a former student accommodation block. The building - located in the busy, commercial area of Elm Grove - will be repurposed to provide critical temporary accommodation for people across the City. The project commenced in late March and will be completed in late summer 2021.
The second project comprises the refurbishment of the Lantern specialist provision in Fratton, to provide the extra space required for additional placements for pupils with highly complex needs at the Lantern Campus, part of the Mary Rose Academy.
Mountjoy previously carried out the complete refurbishment of the ground floor in 2019 which initially brought the building back into functionality after a period of disuse. The project also includes the construction of a new external staircase and a minor extension to the existing building. The project started at the occupied school in early April 2021 and will run for approximately 30 weeks.
