All supplies collected as part of Mountjoy’s donation appeal in support of local Portsmouth charity, Helping Hands, have now been handed over to the charity.
Helping Hands are a group of volunteers based in Portsmouth who provide homeless and vulnerable members of the local community with hot food, hot drinks, and other necessary supplies, using donations from the public. Led by Bev Saunders, the volunteers cook food in their own homes to create food and wellbeing parcels and hand these out in Commercial Road and other locations in Portsmouth City Centre. They also spend time offering emotional and practical support to homeless and vulnerable people which even extends to supporting them with accessing emergency healthcare and staying with them if they attend hospital.
Following the success of a similar appeal last year, Mountjoy invited our staff, subcontractors and members of our supply chain to join in our efforts to support the cause. This was led by our Portsmouth City Council Contract Manager, Paul Deluchi and our Business Management Apprentice, Amber Feltham.
Donations were collected at our office in Farlington, before being handed over to Bev at our offices on 22nd December.
We would like to thank all staff and suppliers who generously donated to this fantastic cause- your efforts will make a big difference to the local community this Christmas and well into 2023!
