The Objective
Portsmouth City Council was in need of a responsive contractor to provide building fabric and grounds maintenance to Britain’s second-busiest cross-Channel ferry port.
The maintenance contract covers the terminal building, support service buildings, toilets, access routes to the ferries, dock areas and grounds. Works include reactive tasks in the customer-facing Terminal Building such as plumbing and carpentry, as well as TV screen cleaning and externally, road surfacing.
Planned maintenance responsibilities include Legionella testing, water temperature testing, drainage flushing and fire door maintenance.
The Solution
Mountjoy already operates a housing maintenance contract within the vicinity but the Port has its own dedicated site based team so that any repairs can be dealt with immediately.
Our team respond to reactive maintenance issues raised by the Port’s Site Manager and planned maintenance as it arises so that the Port can continue running uninterrupted. Mountjoy is also responsible for taking meter readings across the site for gas, electric and water supplies.
The contract is very collaborative and we regularly take part in small projects that help with seasonal events that are taking place.
We also quote to carry out refurbishment projects on the Port site and recently provided alteration works to enable the creation of a ‘Space to Change Facility’.
