Mountjoy constructed a new sports and community building, now known as Downview Hall, secured under a Design and Build contract. The facility contains a multi-use indoor sports hall suitable for five-a-side football, badminton and basketball.
The scope of works included;
- Steel frame construction
- Underfloor heating
- Toilet and shower facilities, changing areas
- Kitchen facilities
- Safe play area and landscaping
The project was funded by the F Glenister Woodger Trust, a charity that seeks to benefit people local to the Witterings. It has made grants to support projects from amateur sport to heritage, education and training and accommodation.
Mountjoy held a groundbreaking ceremony to get the project off to a start, with a member of the Council and the leader of the Guides taking the first shovel of dirt. Both the local Girl Guides and Brownies were in attendance at the event, along with the project's Chartered Surveyors, Chawton Hill Associates Ltd. The Girl Guides use the badminton court in the new building.
