The Objective
In 2013, Ealing Council were in need of a contractor who could undertake void refurbishments and associated works to their social housing stock, comprising street properties, sheltered housing, and medium and high rise communal blocks including works to High Intervention Estates (HIEs). They needed a company that could mobilise the contract quickly and respond to a backlog of 100 voids across two areas left by a previous contractor.
The Solution
With an understanding of the social housing market in London, Mountjoy responded to the need for a quickly mobilised contract recruiting staff, meeting local suppliers and setting up an office in the locality.
We introduced efficient ways of working through bespoke designed IT systems. Our IT interface was designed in 2013 around the Client’s need, with full visibility of order status from job set‐up to completion. The client was so satisfied with our IT solution that we were handed the second area of the contract four months early.
As part of our commitment to working sustainably, we introduced a free recycling centre for the residents of Ealing. With the approval of the Council, any old furniture recovered from voids is up-cycled, tested and then stored in a local unit, where residents in need were able to choose from our selection for free.
