Located in Portsmouth, Ark Charter Academy is a co-educational Church of England secondary school and sixth form, owned by Ark Schools. Ark is an education charity that exists to make sure that all children, regardless of their background, have access to great education and real choices in life.
In 2023, Mountjoy were appointed to carry out Site Wider Works at the school in order to increase external space and provide a new life to the break-time facilities for students. The works were inclusive of:
- The Replacement of Boundary Fencing and Gates
- Window and External Door Replacement Works
- Replacement of existing internal and external door access control provision
- Minor soft and hard landscaping works including the installation of new grass and a new wet pour permeable rubber crumb surface to replace the existing worn grass.
All works had to be undertaken outside of school terms, and so the works were split into two main phases, with each phase focusing on a different area of the school. Phase 1 was completed during the summer holiday period, and Phase 2 was completed during the October Half Term.
To ensure the security of the site, the replacement of the school’s boundary fencing and gates had to be programmed carefully, and so the sequencing of the works were integral to the success of the project.
