Mountjoy has always been ready to support the upkeep of local support accommodation and in 2008 was awarded a contract for the conversion of Abbeyfield Care Home in Ryde into ten self contained properties.
The works began with asbestos removal and internal strip out before creating new partitions to suit the revised layouts. New gas, water, electrical and phone supplies were installed as well as communal fire and security systems, along with an upgrade to sound and fire insulation. Electrical services were upgraded and new plumbing, sanitaryware and heating were installed. All remaining walls and ceilings were overboarded, ten new bespoke kitchens were fitted and all uPVC windows and doors were replaced. The building was completed with internal redecoration and a new car parking area to the front of the property.
As a benefit to our client Mountjoy completed one of the properties earlier than the others in order for it to be used as a show flat. This enabled our clients to commence early marketing of all of the properties.
